What Are Your Two Budgets in Life?

All of us have two budgets in life, the money we have and the time we have left. For most people the money budget increases the older we get and the time budget decreases.

All of us have two budgets in life, the money we have and the time we have left.

For most people the money budget increases the older we get and the time budget decreases. Most of us start with a little amount of money but lots of time. We conspire to build the first budget and spend the second one.

The danger is that we reach a point in later life and looking back, realise that we have built a good money budget but at the expense of the time budget.

As we have said before life is about finding balance in all things. A good example of this is the balance between spending now/saving now and spending later/saving later. It is important to enjoy life now and not just save every penny for future enjoyment. The reverse is also true.

Life comes at us fast and in particular the advent of smart phones means that our free time gets sucked into a little rectangular void. The best way to manage this is to regularly pause and review what you are spending your time and money budgets on.

How are you spending your time and money budgets? Are you buying the real luxuries – quality time with others, health, a quiet mind, sleep and guilt-free relaxation.

We are currently guiding Phoenix staff through their save/spend balance at all points of their lives. We do this from our offices in Hook, Hampshire and all over the UK.
